- StockMarketMentor: This is a pretty widespread distribution day as so many stocks are testing their 200-day moving averages from below. It's like banging your head on the ceiling. The S&P and Nasdaq 100 are hitting their heads, as are such big names as $TSLA and $AMZN (which broke through on Monday, but it's pulling back today). This isn't a day to be actively doing much other than protecting profits if you have 'em. There just isn't much to do...so don't keep trying to find work. (More on this in a few hours). --Dan

- joelsg1: $GOOGL in the 1980s there was a low cost electronics store in NY called the Wiz whose tagline was "Nobody beats the Wiz". Ultimately, they expanded right into bankruptcy in the 1990s. Yesterday, $GOOGL announced a $32B deal to buy Israeli cybersecurity firm Wiz. Remains to be seen if the deal goes through (it should) as our Govt. is fighting $GOOGL in court seeking a breakup of search. Ball is in court of $MSFT and $AMZN to keep up, and the TAM is large and getting larger with more data and AI. Do not think this is a negative for $PANW and $CRWD.

- StockMarketMentor: As noted a while ago, we've got some short candidates in the indexes and various stocks. Consider these: $RKLB -- short 21.96 with a buy-stop just above $25.50. Rebounding a bit now. Any rebounds should not be shorted. Rather, they should be watched for signs that the rebound has run its course and the stock is once again falling. If the rebound doesn't fail, then the trade would be negated). $AMZN -- short 215 with buy stop just above $220 (It's also rebounding a bit right now). $MDY -- short at 564.70 with a buy stop just above $580. $IWM -- short at 216.50 with buy-stop above $225. Note that the risk is pretty low on these with tight buy-stops. There is a reason for that, which I have previously explained. - bigbartabs: @Nepenthe $AMZN ... this is one that I would set an alert rather than a stop below the low... since its sitting right on the 50dma. Double bounces near the major moving averages of course are common, since most traders are rooting for it to rise back up, gritting their teeth. If after the first hour it's below... good place to sell, and wait to reload if rises back up before the close. One man's opinion... good luck.

Cap ex is big with all of them but DeepSeek may be an indication more can be done with less. That said, I tend to think the race is on and spending is going to continue massively.
- woodman: $AMZN Amazon.com (AMZN) reported earnings of $1.86 per share on revenue of $187.79 billion for the fourth quarter ended December 2024. The consensus earnings estimate was $1.52 per share on revenue of $187.28 billion. The Earnings Whisper number was $1.60 per share. The company beat expectations by 16.25% while revenue grew 10.49% on a year-over-year basis. The company said it expects first quarter revenue of $151.0 billion to $155.5 billion. The current consensus revenue estimate is $158.86 billion for the quarter ending March 31, 2025.

The picture looks like the Cloud and AI business is growing but not in an accelerated pace. There are more earnings coming from $QCOM, $ARM, $AMZN should give a more complete picture of the Cloud+AI bisiness. So far, the earnings have no upside surp ... - WhitePath: More on tech earnings summary ... $ARM: dropped afterhours after earnings report even as they have 19% growth in revenue (higher than prior quarter but still way off the highs). Business guidance seen as in-line, but if AI on end-user device is booming, they would have reported stronger future licensing obligation. Keep in mind $QCOM, $NVDA, $AAPL, $GOOGL, $MSFT, $AMZN all license $ARM. That is saying something. $QCOM: dropped afterhours after earnings report. Growth across the board but the expectation is higher and more in guidance. Growth in mobile is less than the overall business (13% vs 17%). This aligns with $ARM results. Looks like mobile phone buyers are not there to drive the mobile business growth. So far, the earnings have no upside surprises in all the major Semi-mobile-AI business. Will try to trade these name with more neutral strategy than previously more bullish approaches.
